May 2018 – Happy Hands Pre-School to close its doors permanently at the end of summer term
Due to an unsustainable financial position, the PCC have regrettably endorsed the Happy Hands Pre-School Committee’s recommendation to permanently close the provision at the end of the summer term after 43 years. It is our desire to ‘end well’ and to give both the children and staff a good send off.

May 2018 – Parish Representatives appointed
Following the recent ‘Section 11’ meeting, Peter Spencer and Russ Waring have been elected by the Parochial Church Council (PCC) as the Parish Representatives for the ongoing process to appoint a new vicar. The PCC have also produced a ‘Parish Profile’ that will be provided to potential applicants, so that they can understand a little of what the parish and the worshipping community are like before they apply.
April 2018 – Family Fun Day
Thank you to all who joined in the fun at the family fun day on the church car park on Saturday 21st. Over 150 ‘goodies’ bags were distributed whose contents included a book about faith and choccies (thank you Tesco Express :-)). There are some photos on the St John’s Facebook page.

Russ Waring and Chris Slater will continue as Churchwardens for another year. Jean Simmons, Tom Wilson and Sue Rhodes are joining the Parochial Church Council for a 3-year term of office.

April 2018 – Process of appointing a new vicar
Alistair (and Pippa) have now moved on to the Parish of the Risen Lord located in the New Hall Lane area of Preston.
The Parochial Church Council (PCC) have met with Archdeacon Mark, Area Dean Marc Wolverson and the parish patrons: Rev David Gibb (Vicar of St Andrews) and a representative of the Church Pastoral Aid Society (CPAS) to start the process of appointing a new vicar.
The next steps are to a) select two members of the PCC to be the parish representatives working with the Diocesan Bishop, Archdeacon, Area Dean and patrons to advertise, interview and appoint a new vicar and b) for the PCC to write a ‘parish profile’ that describes our church and those who are involved with the wide range of activities that we have, as well as the wider parish, and the sort of person that we are looking for to lead us in to the 2020’s.
March 2018 – Intern (Voluntary Worker) needed for September 2018 start
We are currently looking for an intern to work alongside Barbara Lang, our Children and Families worker, for the academic year 2018-2019. Accommodation is provided plus a living allowance.
